KnifeBoss is an online store specializing in hiking gear, EDC accessories, and self-defense (knives, gas canisters, plate carriers, multi-tools).
The promotion began six months after the site's launch, when the organic channel generated only ~50 clicks per day.
- Increase the website's visibility in search results for high-frequency and mid-frequency queries.
- Increase organic traffic and make it a key sales driver.
- Display the average position of the site.
- To establish topical authority in the outdoor equipment niche.
Work on the project was complicated by several factors.
- Firstly, there is a pronounced seasonality of demand, with peak sales in the autumn-spring period and a decline in the winter months.
Secondly, there was intense competition from large marketplaces like Rozetka and Epicentr. Furthermore, some product categories, such as knives and gas canisters, had limited paid advertising opportunities, requiring a greater focus on SEO.
- The wide range of the catalog created additional challenges, increasing the likelihood of overlapping intents and internal conflicts between pages.
The first stage online store promotion The key to this was the careful collection and clustering of semantics. Hundreds of keywords were collected using Ahrefs, Serpstat, Google Keyword Planner, and Google Search Console data.
We performed manual cluster adjustments, distributing requests by intent: informational, commercial, transactional, and local.
Particular attention was paid to collecting queries such as "buy nizhe" and "buy gas canister" to maximize relevance in regional search results. Profitable clusters with limitations in paid advertising were also identified, and a decision was made to prioritize these through organic channels.
The website structure was then optimized. Building a logical category and subcategory architecture minimized internal page competition and created conditions for ranking for a wide range of high-margin, long-tail keywords.
The content strategy was built on the principle of creating content hubs around priority product groups. To maintain expertise and topical authority, a blog was launched covering topics such as bushcraft, tourism, outdoor activities, and EDC gear.
All commercial pages were further enhanced with JSON-LD Product micro-markup, which increased the share of rich snippets in organic search results.
The link strategy was built on a thorough competitor analysis. Despite Rozetka's high DR, their link profile turned out to be insufficiently relevant.
This allowed us to prioritize link quality over quantity. We collected over 130 relevant sites to build a natural link profile through guest posts, reviews, and mentions in tourism and survival blogs.
At the same time, technical optimization of the website was carried out. Internal linking was reworked to increase crawl depth, and Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID) metrics were optimized.
The site showed significant growth across key metrics.
According to Ahrefs, rankings for keywords have improved significantly: for example, the query "first canister" rose from 54th to 4th position, "buy plitonoski" from 71st to 29th, and for the new query "folding knife," the site immediately took the 3rd position.
Following the March Google algorithm update, an additional wave of visibility growth was recorded, confirming the effectiveness of the chosen strategy.
Topical authority and a well-built content hub speed up the ranking of commercial pages without a huge link budget.
Local pages generate their first traffic within 2-3 weeks after indexing.
Non-branded traffic now accounts for 97% of all organic traffic → the project is independent of paid channels.
SEO has proven once again that properly constructed semantics, building topical authority through content hubs, and systematic link building can achieve sustainable growth even in a competitive niche.
With a smart strategy, local pages begin to generate traffic within 2-3 weeks after indexing.
In a context where paid advertising channels are limited by subject matter, SEO can become not just an additional, but a primary driver of sales.
This project managed to break out of the information noise zone and take a stable position in the top 10 search results without having to invest huge budgets in advertising.
